Why We Exist

Parrot Society (Singapore) is a non-profit animal welfare society established in 2022 by a group of dedicated parrot owners in response to a lack of knowledge and support for proper parrot care in Singapore.
We have rescued and fostered several parrots among ourselves and shared care tips to many members of the parrot community. In 2022, we decided to set up this non-profit organisation to formalise our initiatives.
Our Mission
To elevate the welfare standards of parrot-keeping in Singapore through education and outreach, and to provide a sustainable system through which abandoned, neglected, and mistreated parrots can be aided.
Our Vision
To achieve a Singapore where parrots are no longer unethically exploited, and where they can coexist with humans peacefully.

Our Tagline – “Changing Lives, One Parrot at a Time”: The Heart of Parrot Society (Singapore)
At Parrot Society (Singapore), we believe in the power of transformation—one parrot and one person at a time. Our tagline, “Changing Lives, One Parrot at a Time,” isn’t just a catchphrase; it’s the essence of our mission and underpins every action we take.
For Every Parrot: A Chance at a Better Life
Every parrot that comes into our care brings a unique story of resilience. Whether it’s a rescue from unfavourable conditions or a rehoming for a bird that’s lost its family, we’re here to ensure they get the best possible care.
This part of our mission is about making a tangible difference in the lives of these amazing birds, one feathered friend at a time. With each parrot we help, we’re changing their world— one filled with love, proper care, and the respect they deserve.
For Every Owner: A Transformative Journey
Owning a parrot is not only about enjoying their colourful presence but also about embracing a transformative journey that enriches both your lives. As current or prospective parrot owners, you are vital to this process.
We support you by providing insights and knowledge to help you understand and meet the complex needs of these intelligent creatures. When you accommodate your parrot’s needs, you create a nurturing environment that enables them to thrive. In return, your parrot brings immeasurable joy and fulfillment into your life, transforming everyday moments into extraordinary experiences.
This journey of mutual adjustment and understanding teaches patience, empathy, and responsibility, developing into a deep, enduring bond that enriches your world in ways you never imagined.
Why Our Tagline Matters
“Changing Lives, One Parrot at a Time” reflects our single-minded focus: taking small steps that will lead to big changes.
Why small steps though?
Because as much as we want to help every parrot in need at all times, the reality is that our resources are finite. Our commitment to quality care means we sometimes face tough decisions about which cases we can take on. Realistically, there are limitations to what we can do.
But in every limitation lies opportunity. So we take the opportunity to strengthen our resolve and we take the opportunity to highlight the importance of community support. By working together, we can increase the impact of our efforts and help more parrots find loving homes.
So our tagline is very much also a call to action. It’s a reminder that whether you’re adopting a parrot or supporting our cause, you’re taking a step with us towards a larger mission. A mission that celebrates life, advocates responsible pet ownership, and spreads joy and colour in the world, one parrot at a time.
Join us, and let’s make a difference together.

2023
- Once inaugurated, we participated in NParks’ pilot programme “Community for Pets” via the membership of our President & Founder. We attended our first public event with an educational booth at Pets’ Day Out on 11 February 2023
- Our first media mentions in Feb 2023 were pertaining to a high-profile rescue of an abused green cheeked conure. Thanks to the help of members of the public and the rapid action of our volunteers, we managed to secure the parrot. Pumpkin has since been adopted into a loving family!
- Our largest rescue case involved 10 lovebirds living in a small cage, with poor nutrition, overbreeding and poor hygiene. While 1 passed on from poor health due to prior neglect, all the remaining 9 were successfully adopted to wonderful new homes.
- We partnered with various organisations, community clubs, and AWGs to participate regularly in various outreach and educational events.
- We were invited to our first pre-school outreach events and brought smiles and awareness to kids about parrots.
- Our opinion on human-parrot interactions in walk-in aviaries at Bird Paradise was sought by the media (Jun 2023)
- We wrapped up our first year (2023) as an official organisation with 26 rescued parrots, 15 successful adoptions, 40 welfare enquiries involving various areas such as abuse/neglect, surrendering of parrots, and lost and found birds.
