A Key Milestone

Friends of Parrots Day

A Milestone for Parrot Welfare Education In Singapore

Friends of Parrots Day 2026 marked a significant milestone for Parrot Society (Singapore) with the official unveiling of the revised edition of our Parrot Care Handbook by Minister of State Alvin Tan.

What began as a community-driven effort to improve parrot welfare has grown into a resource downloaded by hundreds of readers in Singapore and around the world. This latest edition represents an important step forward, having received support from Animal & Veterinary Service (AVS). The revised handbook incorporates edits contributed by AVS to strengthen its relevance to Singapore’s local context, alongside a foreword recognising the importance of responsible parrot ownership and welfare.

The unveiling of the handbook at Friends of Parrots Day 2026 reflects the growing recognition of parrot welfare as an important topic within Singapore’s animal welfare landscape. We are proud to contribute a practical, accessible resource that helps current and aspiring owners provide better lives for their parrots.
